        Announcing...

        ----------------------------------------
        STAGING THE PACIFIC PROVINCE:

A CONFERENCE ON BRITISH COLUMBIA THEATRE
        ----------------------------------------
        MAY 13, 14, 15, KAMLOOPS, BC
        ----------------------------------------
Consider attending this first-ever academic conference on the Theatre of
British Columbia. The program for this three-day event is now in place--we
have papers, panels, special presenters, playwrights reading, live
performances, videos, and displays! It promises to be a fascinating and
lively conference, from an architectural tour (via slides!) of BC theatre
designs, to the anecdotal (Murray Edwards on Vancouver theatre in the early
forties, and Leonard Angel on Vancouver in the seventies), historical
(Patrick O'Neill on the Royal Engineers shipboard performances),
biographical (Kathy Chung on Dorothy Somerset), theoretical (Celeste
Derksen on "Embracing Oddity")--and many more! There will also be live
performances, including Northwest Coast native dancers (using the famous
transformation masks), and a staged reading of George Ryga's Captives of
the Faceless Drummer.

You can check the full program, as well as registration information, on our
website:
