2001-2002  Music Director Position Available

The Schools of Dramatic Art and Music invite applications from individuals
for the position of Music Director of Gelbart's and Coleman's The City of
Angels. The production is also a course taken by students of Dramatic Art
and Music for credit.  Rehearsals with cast on stage begin January 21,
2002.  The opening performance is March 14, 2002.

Qualifications include demonstrated success in working with musical
productions professionally and/or at the university level.

Duties of the Music Director encompass responsibility for all aspects of
the musical theatre production, including: (1) hiring a rehearsal pianist
and vocal coach, and engaging members of the pit orchestra; (2) arranging
the orchestral parts to suit the available players; (3) planning and
conducting the orchestral rehearsals prior to joining the orchestra with
the singers (foreseeable, six weeks of music rehearsal would be required in
advance of joining forces with the cast on stage); (4) in conjunction with
the Production Director, planning and organizing the music rehearsals with
the cast on stage; (5) attend cast rehearsals where necessary; (6)
instructing and coaching the cast in musical matters; (7) conducting the
show at each performance.  The Music Director will work with the Production
Director and Choreographer in musical matters, instructing and coaching the
cast in musical matters
