· Molière in the New World

            October 16, 2001 to May 19, 2002

The McCord Museum is celebrating the 50th anniversary season of Montreal's Théâtre du Nouveau Monde (TNM) with a collaborative exhibition that will delight history and theatre buffs alike. Featuring an innovative exhibition design by well-known set-designer Danièle Lévesque, Molière in the New World delves into the world of the theatre, and highlights the importance of this 17th-century playwright's works throughout the TNM's half-century of history. Visitors to the exhibition will discover classic characters such as Tartuffe and l'Avare, and get to meet some of Quebec's best loved classical actors. The McCord will also offer an exciting complement of cultural activities in conjunction with the exhibition. This behind-the-scenes glimpse of the sets, costumes, props and characters of the theatre is sure to enchant visitors of all ages.
