One-Year Limited-Term Position in Costume Design

The University of Windsor invites applications for a one-year limited-term
faculty position in the School of Dramatic Art in the area of Costume
Design at the rank of Assistant Professor commencing as early as July 1,
2006. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

The School of Dramatic Art at the University of Windsor is one of the
oldest and best established theatre and drama programs in the country. Our
graduates have made a mark on both the world stage and in film, as well as
in education. Currently Dramatic Art offers honours degree programs in
Acting, Drama in Education and Community, and Dramatic Art, and a wide-
ranging subscription season of plays through University Players that serves

theatre company of the School of Dramatic Art, operates a 319- seat main
stage in Essex Hall. The City of Windsor has a vital and expanding cultural

creative potential within both the University setting and the community.

Responsibilities will include the teaching of two introductory courses in
costume design and the design of costumes and accessories for two
main-stage productions. The ability to render traditional costumes plates,
plus a thorough knowledge of fabric manipulation, millinery, and apparel
are essential. A knowledge of hair and make-up design and a working
knowledge of a computer-aided costume program are desirable. Budget and
management skills are essential. The candidate must have a degree in
Costume Design by date of appointment, or equivalent professional
experience. Teaching experience at the post-secondary level is also
desirable.

Applications will include:
      a letter of application, including a statement of
      citizenship/immigration status;
      a current curriculum vitae;
      a teaching dossier or evidence of teaching effectiveness that might
      include sample course syllabi/outlines;
      statement of teaching interests and creative activity interests;
      production photos demonstrating the realisation of designs (on-line
      photos are acceptable)
      sample(s) of creative/scholarly activity; and
      three current letters of reference forwarded by the referees.


Please do not send a portfolio with the initial application. Short-listed
candidates will be asked to submit examples of the design process
including, but not limited to, renderings with swatches and costume plots,
and other examples of the design process. To ensure full consideration,
