Dear Ric, CATR/ACRT Executive, CanDrama members,

I am most humbly grateful for the recognition that comes with the award of the Patrick O'Neill prize for my anthology of Québec women's plays. And as Ric has said so eloquently, the work of editing (whether plays or essays) has been an important part of our work in building a Canadian repertory. I feel that I am following in the footsteps of many of you who have already blazed the editing/anthology trail -- colleagues, researchers, exec members, students all. I am particularly grateful to Playwrights Canada Press for their commitment to publishing this work we do. I am equally grateful to Ric who has edited the wonderful series of collections at the PCP. Such vision!! I would particularly mention Jerry Wasserman, a real anthologizing pioneer.

It is an honour for me to know you as cherished colleagues and friends,

Louise Forsyth

Hi all,

I want to congratulate Louise as an eminently worthy first recipient of the Patrick O'Neill Award, but also to congratulate the association on having the wisdom to recognize editing in this way. It's a necessary and hugely important part of what we do--as Louise's volumes of Quebec Women's Plays demonstrates with her usual (well, extremely UNusual, actually) commitment and care--and it's one that is widely under-acknowledged in the academy.

Kudos to both Louise and to the executive who introduced this award.

Cheers all,

Ric
