(TORONTO, ON – Wednesday, August 8th, 2012) *Playwrights Guild of
Canada*(PGC) is proud to announce that funding has been secured to
hire
*Bobby Theodore* to conduct research on theatre translation. The goal is to
create a contract guideline for playwrights and theatre translators to
protect the artistic rights of writers.

Mr. Theodore was selected to conduct this research as he is a writer and
translator himself, a nominee of the Governor General’s Award for Literary
Translation, and has previously worked as a literary agent.

*“The aim of this research is to provide a helpful resource that will
empower any Canadian playwright as they approach the translation process.”*

It is expected that a final draft of the guideline will be made available
at the end of November.

If you would like to set up a meeting to discuss theatre translation with
Mr. Theodore you can email him at: bobby.theodore at gmail.com
