Assistant Professor – Drama (Costume Design and Construction)
Tenure-track

The University of Lethbridge, Faculty of Fine Arts, and Department of Drama invites applications for a tenure-track appointment for a Costume Design and Construction specialist at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2018. This position is subject to the approval of the University of Lethbridge Board of Governors.

Candidates must possess a terminal degree along with a demonstrated record of excellent research/creative activity in the area of theatrical costume design. Proficiency in at least one other area of theatrical design is also required.

The successful candidate will teach courses in costume design and construction, stage makeup, theatrical production, and other topics in her or his area of expertise. Teaching duties in other areas of the Department of Drama may be assigned. Participation in the MFA graduate program is required. The ideal candidate will display teaching excellence, evidenced by post-secondary teaching experience and a commitment to innovative educational practices.

The successful candidate is expected to maintain an active research and/or creative activity profile; further, she or he will have an interest and willingness to design for Department of Drama productions as a means of enhancing this profile.

Administrative contributions to the Department of Drama, the Faculty of Fine Arts, and University community are required.

The Department of Drama offers BA, BFA, and combined undergraduate degree programs, as well as an MFA program. Our passionate instructors and vibrant students foster a sense of community that welcomes imagination, self-expression, and collaboration. Regular visits from high-profile guest artists provide exposure to diverse perspectives. The Department features a dynamic season of theatre activities, including mainstage productions with significant technical elements, a student-run series of productions, and an array of practical workshops, play readings, public forums, and special events.

The Faculty of Fine Arts, housed in the Centre for the Arts with state‑of‑the‑art equipment and facilities, offers degree programs in Art, Drama, Music and New Media within a liberal arts education context and focuses on excellence in teaching and research/creative activity. -          a curriculum vitae

-          a statement of teaching philosophy

-          and a teaching dossier (including, if possible, sample syllabi and teaching evaluations)
