Hello!


I am pleased to announce the publication of my book *Player and Avatar: The
Affective Potential of Videogames* from McFarland Publishing! This is an
analysis of videogames from a theatre and performances studies perspective
with an emphasis on immersion, agency, proprioception, new definitions of
narrative, and, of course, affect. This is a book about how virtual
environments cast the player/participant as the protagonist in an unfolding
narrative based on her choices and how that makes her player/participant
feel. Anyone interested in digital performance, intermediality, and
videogames as a form of 21st Century performance (as per Steve Dixon)
should read this book!
