Section Editor: Yana Meerzon (Canada)

Critical Stages/Scènes Critiques<https://www.critical-stages.org/26/> is a bilingual, biannual, peer-reviewed journal of the International Association of Theatre Critics (IATC). We are fully committed to the Open Access Initiative. In January 2023, the winter Issue no 26 (2022) of Critical Stages/Scènes Critiques was published. It consists of 58 contributions signed by 75 authors from 27 countries. For the first time in the history of the journal, it published two original dramatic texts: the first play, Town Hall by Caridad Svich,<https://www.critical-stages.org/26/town-hall/> is related to climate change and ecology; the second play, Crime/#AlwaysArmUkraine by Asya Voloshina (pen name Ester Bol),<https://www.critical-stages.org/26/crime-alwaysarmukraine/> is about the war in the Ukraine.

Professor Yana Meerzon (Department of Theatre, University of Ottawa) is an editor of the Essays section <https://www.critical-stages.org/26/category/essays/> of the journal. It is dedicated to urgent issues related to theater and performance making, ways of thinking and writing about theatre and performing arts, ways of viewing and reflecting practices, pedagogies of performance and text analysis, practices of dramaturgy, interdisciplinarity, transcultural approaches and digitalization of communication in theatre and cultural performance, among other issues. The aim of the ESSAYS section is to offer a broader practical, aesthetic, historical and theoretical outlet to those interested in recent developments in theatre and performance across national and disciplinary boundaries.
