Hey everyone,
We hope you all had a good holiday, and that your winter semester is
going well so far! We would like to use this message as an opportunity
to inform you of some upcoming events that the Anthropology Society has
planned for you. In this email, we will also like to inform you of some
interesting events that the ASU is promoting.
Our first Anthropology Society event is set for Thursday, January 29^th
at East Side Mario’s, in University Shops Plaza (170 University Ave W.).
This event will just be a casual dinner with appetizers provided by us,
and will be an excellent opportunity to meet other Anthropology students
and mingle over yummy food. Dinner starts at 6pm, and we would greatly
appreciate if you RSVP to estieler at uwaterloo.ca
<mailto:estieler at uwaterloo.ca> by Tuesday, January 27^th . Please feel
free to bring friends that you think may be interested in joining us,
and we encourage first-years to come out!
Other events that we are in the process of planning include a Zoo trip
with one of our physical anthropology professors at the end of February,
and a flint-knapping session with one of our archaeology professors
sometime in February as well. We are also contemplating a belly-dancing
and drumming session led by a local dance instructor, as well as a trip
to the Ontario Museum of Archaeology. Other random and fun events may
also pop up sporadically throughout this semester.
We would also like to inform you about some interesting ASU events
coming up within the next couple of weeks. One is a career night for
Arts students, while the other is a lecture held by the Bracelet of Hope
Campaign. More information about these events is stated below.
Once again, we would like to wish you all a good winter semester, and we
hope to see you all come out sometime!
Cheers,
The Anthropology Society
