Dear Anth Majors,

Professor Olga Palagia, a renowned expert in Greek art and archaeology from
Athens University, will be presenting a lecture at our university next week
(March 26, 12:30-1:30 in EV3 4412) entitled:  *Ritual Dances in Greek
Sculpture*. She will also be presenting a lecture (open to the public) at
the ROM on March 27, 7pm entitled, *The Impact of Alexander on the Arts of
Greece*.

Regarded as one of the world's leading experts in ancient Greek sculpture,
Professor Palagia has published over a dozen books and articles on Greek
art. She has held numerous Fellowships at prestigious research institutes
and museums around the world, including the British Museum in London and
the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Good morning,

The Department of Classical Studies, the Waterloo Institute for Hellenistic
Studies, Embassy of Greece in Canada and Consulate General of Greece in
Toronto, and the ROM are proud to present a lecture by Dr. Olga Palagia,
Professor of Classical Archaeology National and Kapodistrian University
(Athens, Greece) on Thursday March 27th at 7pm at the Royal Ontario Museum
in Toronto.

 Few individuals from history have captured the imagination quite like
Alexander the Great (336-323 B.C.). He is most famous for his vast military
success. He is so monumental a figure, however, that he also had a large
impact on the development of every aspect of Ancient Greek Culture,
including Ancient Greek art. Prof. Palagia will discuss this fascinating
topic.

This lecture is open to the public and all are welcome. An RSVP would be
appreciated.

*Dr. Palagia will also give a lecture at the University of Waterloo on
Wednesday March 26 from 12:30-1:30 in EV3 4412 entitled, "Ritual Dances in
Greek Sculpture". This lecture is open to the public and all are welcome.*
