Hi, all.

(Apologies for the short notice, but this all came together quickly. If you
can make it, wonderful.)

UW's Critical Media Lab (English) and Collaborative Systems Lab (Systems
Design Engineering) invite you to an event this Wednesday, February 17,
from 4-8 p.m. This Open House and Charity Event is being held to raise
awareness of and gather supplies for the Haitian Relief Kits, being
collected by the Mennonite Central Committee
(http://www.southwesternontario.ctv.ca/provincewide.php?id=417).

The event will take place at the Critical Media Lab, 191 King St W.,
Kitchener, at the corner of King & Gaukel, directly across from Kitchener
City Hall. Stacey Scott, Director of the CSL, and Neil Randall, acting
Director of the CML, have been collaborating on projects related to digital
tabletop gaming (imagine playing a board game while sitting around a huge
multitouch iPhone or iPad!), and will be demonstrating in-progress research
on those technologies as well as showing other research associated with the
CML.

Other activities (all family friendly) will include board games,
large-screen Olympics coverage, and refreshments. Refreshments and light
snacks are courtesy of the Department of English; boardgames are courtesy of
those who bring them (we'll have a few on hand, feel free to bring any
family favourites); Olympics coverage is courtesy of the Internet.

Family and friends welcome!

Please RSVP to Stacey Scott (s9scott at uwaterloo.ca) or Neil Randall
(nrandall at uwaterloo.ca) by Tuesday, Feb 15 (preferably earlier if you can)
if you plan to join us so we can plan for enough refreshments & activities.

If you can't make it, please consider dropping of Relief Kit supplies at
participating locations before February 28th (see
http://www.cambridge.ca/relatedDocs/2010-02-01%20Operation_Cooperation%20for
%20Haiti.pdf or
http://www.southwesternontario.ctv.ca/provincewide.php?id=417 for more
details).

Hope to see you there (with relief kit supplies in hand)!

Thanks,

Neil and Stacey
