The Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences is the largest annual multidisciplinary conference in Canada. Organized by the Canadian Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences (CFHSS), Congress 2012 is being jointly hosted by the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University from May 26 to June 2.

Uncertain World is an exhibition that coincides with Congress 2012, and features work by prominent mid-career Canadian artists Matthew Carver, Susan Dobson, Shelley Niro and Kelly Richardson. Curated in response to the conference theme Crossroads: Scholarship for an Uncertain World, the artworks selected alter perceptions of the familiar and elicit pressing topics that range from the environment to urban sprawl, First Nations land claims to the Occupy movement. Uncertain World is a timely visual complement to Congress 2012.

Both the exhibition and reception will be open to delegates, guests and the public.
