Dr. Fastone Goma is a leading figure in public health in Zambia. He is the Dean of the School of Medicine at the University of Zambia and a cardiologist by training. Dr. Goma is a leader in research and advocacy in tobacco control and was the Co-Project Leader on the pioneer project in tobacco control in Zambia, which led to the formation of the Zambia Tobacco Control Campaign (ZTCC), a strong multidisciplinary national tobacco control consortium consisting of researchers and policymakers in Zambia who have an interest in building research capacity for tobacco control to inform stronger tobacco efforts in the country.
Dr. Goma is the Principal Investigator for the ITC Zambia Project, which is currently conducting the fieldwork for Wave 1 of the ITC Zambia Survey. Dr. Goma is also the main figure in one of the most active initiatives of the Canadian Centre for Global Health Research (CCGHR)-the Zambia-Canada Health Research Partnership.
