Amanda Cachia
In 1990, French philosopher Gilles Deleuze famously grappled with the question and title to his essay, "What Can a Body Do?" This lecture will narrow Deleuze's question, asking "what can a disabled body do?" What does it mean to inscribe a contemporary work of art with experiences of disability?

Curator Amanda Cachia is from Sydney, Australia and recently completed her second Masters in Visual & Critical Studies at the California College of the Arts (CCA) in San Francisco. She received her first Masters in Creative Curating from Goldsmiths College, University of London in 2001 and will embark on a dual PhD in Art History, Theory & Criticism and Communication at the University of California, San Diego in Fall, 2012. She has curated more than 30 exhibitions in London, New York, Oakland and various cities across Australia and Canada.

And

Patricia Reed
As an artist and writer, Reed’s practice concerns the organization of the social and our modes of co-habitation. Using a variety of mediums common to our political lives, her work clinically dissects the normative use of materials and processes, taking systems of logic to their illogical end.

Reed has been a grant recipient from the Canada Council of the Arts, Akademie Schloss Solitude, Stuttgart (Germany); CCA Kitakyushu (Japan); Foundation and Centre for Contemporary Art Prague, (Czech Rep.); The Banff Centre for the Arts (Canada); and the CCA Ujazdowski, Warsaw (Poland). Selected exhibitions include Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin (2012); Kunsthaus Langenthal, Switzerland (2012); Program, Berlin (2011); Württembergische Kunstverein, Stuttgart (2010); Audain Gallery, Vancouver (2010); 0047 Project Space, Oslo (2010); Plateforme, Paris (2010). Reed lives and works in Berlin.
