Colleagues,
I want to invite you to the upcoming concert of the DaCapo Chamber Choir, featuring the amazing counter tenor, Andrew Pickett, from Halifax, and including works by several local composers as well as our elder Canadian composer statesman, Murray Schafer (pyrotechnics for the sopranos and altos in those Schafer works!). Do come hear us, either here at St. John's in Kitchener on 3 May, or in the wonderful Sharon Temple north of Toronto on 4 May (details below)

Nous remercions le Conseil des arts du Canada de son soutien. L'an dernier, le Conseil a investi 157 millions de dollars pour mettre de l'art dans la vie des Canadiennes et des Canadiens de tout le pays.
Special guest, Andrew Pickett
We are thrilled to be welcoming counter-tenor Andrew Pickett to our concert this May...all the way from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Here's a little more information about Andrew, taken from his web site<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001nwytBdpu3mhBg_rul4pcgEA0ginCZ-EueoVuWUjJq832iWmxjM_TbuKXqFtMbVKr_421mmMmgRrpmTIoiwST4hhajKQPqnD7fESKJ8gH4w4YPp1H0UGArgV549nNtST4Am1h8ZLj9OlWwwcAAvkeaBaC0-1bYcOctsXA9PwZE8sm0XToT0rXjA==&c=FrT8x0ONze7I_Cydj0cRzGfLRzWFZ88by5chGNmZdpnQTG4yj40JwA==&ch=ZTHwXe_YKdRWe4ZVD0qQvcaAARCxPOqm2Aghh0JnNooAlNqh-xhgcQ==>:
"Andrew received his Master of Music in Vocal Literature and Performance from the University of Western Ontario, and then proceeded to the Royal College of Music, London, England where he obtained his graduate diploma, studying with Ashley Stafford. He has coached with such notable experts in the vocal Baroque as Dame Emma Kirkby, James Bowman, Michael Chance and Daniel Taylor.
Andrew has performed major roles in operas by Monteverdi, Alessandro Scarlatti, Hasse, Handel, Purcell and Jonathan Dove, and been a soloist in works by Purcell, Charpentier, Handel, Orff, Britten, and Bach (Mass in B Minor and St John Passion) in the UK, Europe, and Canada. His performances in 2011 included Handel Judas Maccabeus, Bach St Matthew Passion, and Purcell The Fairy Queen, and he looks forward to his first Oberon next summer in Halifax in Britten A Midsummer Night's Dream. Although his primary training is in opera and oratorio, he is also a versatile ensemble and chamber music singer, performing internationally with the jazz/early music fusion quartet The 1607 Ensemble. He was a Britten-Pears Young Artist and Brighton Early Music Festival Young Artist."

Take a road trip to the Sharon Temple
[http://ih.constantcontact.com/fs173/1102657031960/img/38.jpg] The Sharon Temple (the venue for our Sunday May 4th concert) is steeped in history; designed as a place of worship by the "Children of Peace" (an offshoot of the Quaker tradition), its construction and architecture is rich in symbolism. Read what local writer and history buff, Nancy Silcox, has to share about this, one of her favourite Ontario historical sites.<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001nwytBdpu3mhBg_rul4pcgEA0ginCZ-EueoVuWUjJq832iWmxjM_TbuKXqFtMbVKrAzJo7TaOrGPIPXije4acm5wYY96nNK4ilDWx8If_DpLOouGX_qIe4EtJhSy3T62wFkzLtytFlYgd6oVan2SdulaEdhRsOwq1xUmFN-WF0GHyl--xS_oo2Ihlj8EXr5M3dcpZB5HFCvbhAGH7WerlOQNNbeBqdQ7C6Gw--aOuUdetczsKrd0iNHW730_DYERT-4QUv9yLlCQ=&c=FrT8x0ONze7I_Cydj0cRzGfLRzWFZ88by5chGNmZdpnQTG4yj40JwA==&ch=ZTHwXe_YKdRWe4ZVD0qQvcaAARCxPOqm2Aghh0JnNooAlNqh-xhgcQ==>
