Alia Toor: Artists Who Teach: Visual Culture, Creativity and Pedagogy
February 26th, 2014
10:00 am, East Campus Hall, Room 1219

Alia Toor's talk focuses on the fields of visual culture, creativity and pedagogy—their intersection in theory and practice. Toor holds an MA in Communication and Education from Columbia University. With over 15 years teaching experience, Toor is an accomplished educator and researcher with a proven ability to use progressive educational practices. She has taught at all levels of education, from elementary to post-secondary and has held positions with The Art Gallery of Ontario, The Canadian Art Foundation, Trent University, Oasis Alternative School and at the University of Toronto, Mississauga. Her art practice includes installation, photography and textiles and uses language and images to explore the complexities of personal/private space, and the intersections of religion, language, and beauty
