>From fixing the women to liberating the men: Gender in Organizations
Jennifer Berdahl, PhD
Montalbano Professor of Leadership Studies at the University of British Columbia Sauder School of Business.
Well known for her scholarship on integrating women in organizations and occupations traditionally held by men, Professor Berdahl has a PhD in social psychology from the University of Illinois and worked for the American Association of University Women, the University of California Berkeley's Haas School of Business, and Rotman School of Management.
Male-dominated organizations and industries have struggled with integrating women into their ranks. Professor Berdahl presents the different frameworks that have been used for thinking about this problem, from training women to be more like men to examining how work continues to be the site of masculinity contests among men. Berdahl discusses the underlying assumptions, implied remedies, and ultimate effectiveness of these different frameworks.
