Dr. Shanti Morell-Hart, Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology, McMaster University will be presenting a lecture titled:

ANCIENT FOODS AND GASTRONOMIC HERITAGE

Dr. Morell-Hart's lecture will discuss how studies of ancient foods and environments contribute to contemporary understandings of diet, cuisine, and environmental sustainability. Her lecture will focus on the role of paleoethnobotany in understanding human activities in the past, especially in narratives of societal collapse and resilience.

ABOUT OUR GUEST SPEAKER
Shanti Morell-Hart is Assistant Professor of Anthropology at McMaster University. Her research focuses on diverse ethnobotanical practices and transformations in ethnoecological dynamics over time. Her studies in Mesoamerica incorporate macrobotanical and microbotanical residues from ceramic vessels, stone implements, human teeth, and sediments.  Her current book project is titled Gastronomic Heritage: Stakes in Antiquity.
