Next Tuesday, September 17 at 3:00pm WCGS welcomes Birgit Schreyer Duarte, director of the Stratford Festival hit Nathan the Wise.
In a live conversation with WCGS Director James Skidmore, Dr. Schreyer Duarte will discuss what it’s like to bring a play from 18th-century Germany to life in 21st-century Canada. Lessing’s Nathan the Wise has long been considered a shining example of Enlightenment religious tolerance, and Dr. Schreyer Duarte will discuss how Stratford audiences responded. And if you’re interested in questions of literary adaptation or just how plays get staged nowadays, this hard-working theatre director has a wealth of knowledge and experience to share. Everyone is warmly invited to attend.

Presented in cooperation with the Department of Communication Arts.

When: Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at 3:00pm
