Hello,
The concert this week is highly appropriate for Remembrance Day. It is inspired by the life of composer Jana Skarecky's grandmother, Esther (Irina). It was only very recently that Jana's family learned that she was Jewish - which threw a whole new light on the events of her life: Irana (Esther) grew up in Siberia, married a Czech soldier after WWI, lived in China, had two children, during WWII was stranded for three years in Berlin, then finally reached her husband's homeland to begin yet another new life. Irina (Esther) was impacted by war as many other women are, and the warm voice of soprano Clarisse Tonigussi beautifully tells this tale, accompanied by collaborative pianist Narmina Afandiyeva.
