Film screening of Peace by Chocolate, March 1

The Peace and Conflict Studies class PACS 325: Refugees and Forced Migration class is  hosting a film screening of the 2021 film “Peace by Chocolate.” The award-winning film focuses on the true story of Tareq Hadhad, a Syrian refugee, and his family’s experience as they adapt to life in a small town in Nova Scotia, while trying to rebuild the family chocolate business.


WHEN: Friday, March 1 at 7:00 PM

WHERE: Conrad Grebel College, in the Great Hall (room 1111)



This is a free event, however seating availability is limited to 200, on a first come first served basis. Donations are being accepted with proceeds going towards local refugee organizations Compass Refugee Centre, Mennonite Central Committee Ontario, and Reception House. Snacks will be available by a donation to these organizations, and there will also be a post-film discussion led by the class, in which audience members are invited to share their feelings and thoughts concerning the film.
