Guest speaker Neve Gordon on The Gaza Doctrine

Join us on May 13, 2026, when the Faculty of Arts presents guest speaker Neve Gordon.
In his talk, The Gaza Doctrine: Implications for International Law and the future of the Middle East<https://uwaterloo.ca/arts/events/gaza-doctrine-implications-international-law-and-future>, Gordon describes a pattern of modern warfare characterized by mass civilian displacement, significant civilian casualties, and extensive destruction of civilian infrastructure.
Neve Gordon is a professor of law and human rights at the School of Law at Queen Mary University of London and is a Fellow of the British Academy of Social Sciences. Previously, he taught for 17 years at Ben-Gurion University in Israel. Among other publications, he is the co-author Human Shields: A History of People in the Line of Fire (University of California Press, 2020, published in paperback in 2026 with a new preface and epilogue). He is a panel member of the Gaza Tribunal and a board member of the International State Crime Initiative.
