INSTITUTE OBJECTIVE
To improve teaching and learning by enhancing the knowledge and skills of
professors.
WHAT WE'LL DO
Model active learning techniques
Learn how to build a cohesive group from the first day of class
Discuss how personality and learning styles affect not only how
students learn but how we teach
Experience the joys of writing for learning and writing for writing
Learn how to give and receive criticism effectively
Increase enthusiasm for the teaching-learning process
Practice new methods of teaching in a micro-teaching laboratory
Explore the possibilities for active learning in large classrooms
Learn how to teach study skills
Explore other topics, such as documenting good teaching, and dealing
with student differences

Institute fee: $650.00 (CDN)
This fee includes Instructional Material, Continental Breakfast, Sunday
Evening Reception, Noon Lunch, Closing Dinner, Nutrition Breaks.
Deadline/Limits: The completed registration form, along with a $50.00 (CDN)
holding fee must be received by June 15, 1995. Enrollment is limited to 35.
ACCOMODATIONS
Accomodations are available in two student residences on the UPEI campus, for
$37.00 to $66.00 per day, as well as nearby hotels and motels.
Two copies of the registration form will be available in the Teaching and
Learning Resource Centre, in the Reference Department, 4th Floor, Robarts
Library.
