Looking for texts on cultural materialism

I'm in the midst of reading the 1985 collection of essays edited by Jonathan
Dollimore and Alan Sinfield called Political Shakespeare. The collection is
subtitled "New essays in cultural materialism". I find the methodology and
politics of the cultural materialist attractive but before I embrace it, I
should like to do some more reading about the theory.
Can anyone direct me to some of the central texts of the cultural
materialist and his/her detractors, particularly as it relates to theatre
and performance?
