The University of Lethbridge Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Theatre
and Dramatic Arts invites Canadian playwrights to submit previously
unproduced* plays for development through its Canadian Plays in
Development program which operates between May 10 - June 23, 2004. Up
to three full length scripts will be selected for development leading to
public readings. The Program Coordinator, in consultation with the
department, determines length of the workshop. Over the past two years
the company has presented works by Emil Sher, Mitch Miyagawa, and
Kathleen McDonnell.
The successful playwrights will each receive a stipend of $2,500.00
(subject to applicable payroll deductions). The playwright will be
responsible for travel and accommodation costs. On-campus accommodation
(not including meals) ranges from $19.95 to $35.00 per night.
Off-campus accommodation is also available.
The playwright's application should include:
· One unbound copy of the script.
. Cast/Character list including ages and gender, a synopsis of the play,
and a two line summary of the play.
· A detailed resume of the playwright's writing experience and, if
applicable, teaching experience.

· Two letters of support from members of the Canadian theatre community
familiar with the playwright's work.
. Contact information for the playwright including phone numbers,
mailing address and email address.
· Any additional supporting documents.
. A self-addressed stamped envelope (if return of materials is required)
Plays may be submitted at any time between now and the postmark deadline
of February 1st, 2004. Incomplete or late applications will not be
considered. Only successful applicants will be contacted, on or before
March 30th, 2004. This program offering is subject to budgetary approval.
