Bonjour!
Would anyone know about a play called _Booth at the Swan_ directed by
by the American actor Eugene A. McDowell at the Montreal Academy of Music
on the 16th January 1876? I am intrigued by the title. It seems the
expression is now metaphorical, meaning something like "pignon sur rue"
or "cabane au Canada", which became indeed metaphorical in French. If so,
would the expression come from the Swan Thatre? Was that a play on
theatre?
