Restoration and 18th-century Theatre Studies opening at McGill University

 

The Department of English invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin on August 1, 2006, in the area of Drama and Theatre, with a specialization in Restoration and Eighteenth-Century Theatre Studies and with a strong, demonstrable interest in Shakespeare (or a specialization in Shakespearean Theatre Studies with a strong, demonstrable interest in Restoration and Eighteenth-Century Drama). Ph.D. is required. Some teaching experience and a knowledge of French are assets. Evidence of scholarly promise is a major consideration. The teaching load is 12 credits per academic year. Candidates will teach in and contribute to the development of  the Department's undergraduate option in Drama and Theatre; and they will also have the opportunity to participate in the development of research and graduate teaching focusing on Shakespeare and Eighteenth-Century Theatre studies, an area fostered particularly by McGill's Burney Centre and the McGill Shakespeare and Performance Research Team.
