* COORDINATOR OF THEATRE TECHNICAL SERVICES - UNIVERSITY OF LETHBRIDGE*
The Faculty of Fine Arts Department of Theatre and Dramatic Arts
requires a Coordinator of Theatre Technical Services. This is a
continuing Administrative Professional Officer position, beginning July
1, 2008, with a one-year probationary period.
The responsibilities of the Coordinator of Theatre Technical Services
will include:
* scheduling the day-to-day operation of the University Theatre (450
seat proscenium), David Spinks Theatre (225 seat
multi-configurable black box), a 200 seat Recital Hall, and
various other performance studio spaces
* scheduling support staff for the Department of Theatre and
Dramatic Arts
* coordinating the design and technical aspects of the Department’s
season of shows and class projects, including budgeting of time
and materials
* organizing and conducting production meetings for the Department’s
season of shows
* managing, directing and supervising technical rehearsals for the
Department’s season of shows and class projects, to ensure
technical rehearsals run smoothly through to opening performances
* hiring casual labor, supervising the box office
* ensuring the timely upgrading, maintenance and repair of theatre
equipment
* coordinating the use of performance spaces by other departments
and units of the University
* contracting, coordinating and supervising theatre rentals from
outside the university
QUALIFICATIONS:
A degree in technical theatre with a minimum of 5 years experience
working in a theatre, certification in Basic First Aid and WHMIS,
demonstrable skills in basic accounting and human resource management,
and excellent written and oral communication skills are required. The
successful applicant should also be competent using Microsoft Excel,
Microsoft Word and email applications.
