Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that the timing of this coming year’s Digital Humanities Summer Institute, hosted by the University of Victoria's Faculty of Humanities and its Electronic Textual Cultures Lab<http://web.uvic.ca/%7Eetcl/>, overlaps with the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences.  DHSI will run June 6 to June 10, 2013, and its organizers are offering a discounted rate for registered Congress attendees wishing to participate in DHSI courses; special programming will be open and free-of-charge.
The DHSI combines the best aspects of a skills workshop, international conference, and summer camp. It features coursework, seminars, lectures and the chance for faculty, staff, and students from the Arts, Humanities, Library, and Archives communities to share ideas and methods, and develop expertise in using advanced technologies that are opening up exciting new areas of inquiry.
Congress 2013 attendees can take part in most of the DHSI program free-of-charge, including morning and afternoon colloquia, lunch-time unconference sessions, and keynote events. Details on this programming will be shared as it is confirmed in advance of Congress. Attendees can also register for the full DHSI program at a discounted rate of $300 for students and $650 for non-students (for registrations before April 1). Discussions are underway for full integration of DHSI programming within Congress 2014, which will be held at Brock University. Please communicate this opportunity to your members at your earliest convenience, as spots for DHSI courses sell out quickly.

Nous avons le plaisir d’annoncer que la tenue du Digital Humanities Summer Institute (DHSI) de l’année prochaine, organisé par la Faculté des sciences humaines de l’UVic et son Electronic Textual Cultures Lab<http://web.uvic.ca/%7Eetcl/>, coïncide avec les dates du Congrès des sciences humaines. L’Institut d’été aura lieu du 6 au 10 juin 2013 et ses organisateurs proposent un tarif réduit aux participants inscrits du Congrès qui désirent assister aux cours de DHSI; une programmation spéciale sera ouverte à tous et gratuite.
Le DHSI allie les meilleurs aspects d’un atelier de haut niveau, d’un colloque international et d’un camp d’été. Il présente des travaux de cours, des séminaires, des conférences et donne l’occasion aux membres du corps professoral, du personnel et des étudiants des facultés des lettres et des sciences humaines et aux communautés des bibliothèques et des archives d’échanger idées et méthodes de travail et d’acquérir une expertise dans l’utilisation de technologies avancées qui ouvrent de nouveaux territoires passionnants d’enquête.
En 2013, les congressistes pourront donc prendre part gratuitement à une grande part du programme du DHSI comprenant les colloques du matin et de l’après‑midi, les séances informelles à l’heure du midi et les exposés thématiques. Des précisions vous seront communiquées aussitôt que cette programmation sera connue avant le Congrès. Les congressistes ont également la possibilité de s’inscrire au programme complet du DHSI au taux réduit de 300 $ pour les étudiants et de 650 $ pour les non-étudiants (inscriptions confirmées avant le 1er avril). Des discussions sont en cours pour une intégration intégrale de la programmation du DHSI au Congrès 2014 qui se tiendra sur le campus de la Brock University.
