Call for Poster Presentations at the Symposium:
The Other “D”: locating ‘D’ance in Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies in Canada
What is the Story of Your Research?
How does dance figure into your work? What are your discoveries? What are your methodological challenges? What are your questions? What knowledge can you share with other performance scholars? What is the story of your dance research?
We invite you to contribute your answers to these as well as your own questions pertaining to dance research for a dynamic poster session. As the call for papers explains, one of our main goals of the symposium will be to move towards productive and positive exchanges between and within Dance, Theatre, and Performance Studies, and sharing our stories in visual form is a great way to raise awareness about the scope of Dance Studies and of dance-based research happening across and/or about Canada.
We encourage junior and senior scholars at any stage in their research, and from any discipline to share their story so that we can all benefit from considering overlapping, conflicting and intersecting methodological and practical approaches to dance-focused and dance-inclusive projects. We want to know how dance is being approached today and what challenges and discoveries researchers and scholars within a variety of disciplines are making about working in and through dance.
In the interest of practicality and economics all posters will be printed on site. Posters will consist of 4 11 x 17 panels and can include full colour
Sharing the posters will take place in 3 ways. First, posters will be displayed in the Robert Gill Theatre Lobby for the duration of the conference. Second, there will be a poster session at which poster makers will present their research to a group for 10 minutes. Each poster will be assigned a respondent. Third, there will be a sociable sharing and networking event for researchers to discuss their poster presentations with conference attendees.
Questions regarding how the session will be conducted should be sent to theotherdance at gmail.com. If your proposal is accepted, a full outline of the event and the poster requirements and limitations will be sent to you.
