Candrama listerv: Winding

Hi Glen,

The emails themselves, of course, will sit as they have (or haven’t) been in your own email folders by your own ‘saving’. And I haven’t yet dealt with a request to access previous correspondence from Candrama. But I can certainly look into preserving the archive in my dealings with UNB. The question may be whether UNB will want to host the archive and, secondarily, how it could be accessed. My impression is that UNB is dismantling its listservs to free up server space, so they likely won’t be interested in storing the emails themselves, and much less likely to respond to individual requests to access them.

That said, perhaps the archive could be transferred to U Waterloo to be stored, at least. Access is a different question—but one that surely has an answer. Andy and I can look into it.

Cheers,
Robin.

Thank you so much, Robin, for your patient and careful help with this transition. Also, of course thanks to the many terrific offers of assistance, and especially to Andy and UofW. It seems to me we get to have our cake and eat it too, benefitting from the terrific new communications tools CATR is setting up through the website (I look anxiously in my email every day for my permission password to hooked up…LOL) AND continue the use of new “CANDRAMA” listserv.

I have a simple question (because I am very simple about these things), and one that may not be that important, but will the original CANDRAMA archive be preserved somewhere? There may have been conversations or information in those exchanges over the past years that could be useful to have available? Perhaps not, but I thought I’d ask.

Again thanks to everyone!
Glen

Dear Candrama Subscribers,

Just a quick note to say that over the next couple of months, Andy Houston will set up a new permanent Candrama listerv through U Waterloo. Once it’s online the self-subscription information will be emailed through this present listerv before it is removed by UNB. So stay tuned!

Thank you to everyone who conveyed their interest, both across this listerv and to me directly, in having an email forum to communicate about Canadian drama, theatre, and performance studies. Along with the Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/CanadianTheatreResearch) and the forthcoming CATR Member Discussion Groups (http://catracrt.ca<http://catracrt.ca/>) there will be numerous ways in which you can reach out to like-minded researchers, artists, and educators.

All the best,
Robin.
