Canadians like Beatrice Lillie, Margaret Anglin, May Irwin and Julia Arthur
were the toast of Broadway and London's West End theatres.
But how did these women from Toronto, Ottawa, Hamilton and Cobourg Ontario
find stardom? The exhibit explores their childhoods, private lives, careers
and celebrity.
Complementing items from Theatre Museum Canada's own collections, the
exhibit features rarely seen images found in museum and library collections
around the world and discovered by Dr. Cecilia Morgan while researching a
SSHRC-funded project, English-Canadian Actresses on Transnational and
Imperial Stages
