Please join us next week for Act Three of Crisis and Recovery: Theatre and Performance Before and After the Global Pandemic, the 2021 online conference of the Canadian Association for Theatre Research (CATR/ACRT)<https://catracrt.ca/> and the Société québécoise d’études théâtrales (SQET)<https://www.sqet.org/>. If you attended one of the sessions in the first two acts, we’re delighted to have you back for Act Three! If you are joining us for the first time, welcome! The third act, sponsored by the University of Manitoba, runs for two days next week from July 8 to 9. Please join us on July 8 at 11am for our final keynote lecture titled Re-turning the Page: How theatre practice must bravely return into a post-pandemic, de-colonial, anti-racist world by Kevin Loring (N'lakap’amux from the Lytton First Nation in British Columbia, Artistic Director of Indigenous Theatre at the National Arts Centre of Canada). In his lecture, Kevin will discuss the importance of theatres to be diligent in their efforts to dismantle systems of oppression within their organizations and the sector broadly in relation to racism and to settler colonialism. This session is organized with the assistance of the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada<https://www.mcgill.ca/misc/>.

Other highlights include our round table on Black Lives Matter and the Canadian Theatre and Performance Landscape, taking place July 8 at 3pm, sponsored by the Cole Foundation<https://www.colefoundation.ca/en/home-2/>. The round table will feature contributions from Henry Daniel, Naila Keleta-Mae, Quincy Armorer, Cherissa Richards, and Mike Payette.

At 6pm, on July 8, Keynote speaker Kevin Loring will present a dramatic reading of his newly published play, Little Red Warrior and His Lawyer: A Trickster Land Claim Fable, sponsored by Talonbooks<https://www.talonbooks.com/>.

We close the conference with a mini conference about online performance and teaching called Survival and Reinvention. The mini conference kicks off on July 8 at 7:30pm with COVID-Era Digital Theatre, Pedagogy, and Spectatorship. In addition to comments by David Rokeby and Douglas Eacho of the BMO Lab, there will be a performance of Orpheus: Live from the Underworld, a live-streamed musical experience that combines operatic performance, realtime motion capture, and computer animation to depict Orpheus' search for their beloved, Eurydice and their encounter with the ruler of the underworld.

On July 9, we continue our mini conference on Survival and Reinvention with four consecutive panel discussions among scholars and artists, including Digital Theatre: A Necessary Evolution at 11am, Zoom Plays as Pedagogy at 1:30pm, The Online Spectator: Exploring Digital Audiences’ Sense-making at 3pm, and The Pandemic Pivot: Artists, Audiences, and Adaptation at 4:30pm.

Le 8 juillet, à 11 h, aura lieu notre dernière conférence principale intitulée Tourner la page et revenir à la scène. La renaissance courageuse de la pratique théâtrale dans un monde postpandémie, décolonisé et antiraciste de Kevin Loring (N'lakap’amux de la Première Nation Lytton en Colombie-Britannique, Directeur artistique du théâtre autochtone au Centre national des Arts du Canada). Dans sa conférence, Kevin parlera de l’importance pour les théâtres d’être diligents dans leurs efforts de démantèlement des systèmes d’oppression au sein de leurs organisations et dans le secteur du théâtre en général, en ce qui a trait au racisme et au colonialisme de peuplement. Cette séance est organisée avec l'appui de l'Institut d'études canadiennes de McGill<https://www.mcgill.ca/misc/fr>.

Plusieurs autres événements dignes de mention ponctueront la journée, dont notre table ronde sur Black Lives Matter et le milieu du théâtre et de la performance au Canada, qui se déroulera le 8 juillet à 15 h, avec l’appui de la Fondation Cole<https://www.colefoundation.ca/en/programmes/intercultural-conversations/>. La table ronde accueillera les contributions de Henry Daniel, Naila Keleta-Mae, Quincy Armorer, Cherissa Richards, et Mike Payette.

Le 8 juillet à 18 h, notre conférencier invité Kevin Loring fera la lecture de sa nouvelle pièce, Little Red Warrior and His Lawyer : A Trickster Land Claim Fable, commandité par Talonbooks<https://www.talonbooks.com/>.

Nous clôturerons le colloque par une mini-conférence sur la performance et l'enseignement en ligne intitulée Survie et réinvention. La mini-conférence débute le 8 juillet à 19 h 30 avec une séance intitulée Théâtre virtuel en temps de pandémie, pédagogie et public. En plus des commentaires de David Rokeby et Douglas Eacho du laboratoire BMO, il y aura une représentation d'Orpheus : en direct des Enfers, une expérience musicale en direct qui combine la performance opératique, la capture de mouvements en temps réel et l’animation par ordinateur dans le but de dépeindre Orphée, sa quête de sa bien-aimée Eurydice et sa rencontre avec le maître des Enfers.

Le 9 juillet, nous poursuivons notre mini-conférence sur la Survie et la réinvention avec quatre séances de discussion consécutives entre universitaires et artistes : Théâtre virtuel : une évolution nécessaire à 11 h, Le jeu en Zoom comme pédagogie à 13 h 30, Le public en ligne : explorer la pertinence des publics virtuels à 15 h, et Une adaptation pour les artistes et le public en temps de pandémie à 16 h 30.
