Performing Emergence: RePlay, ReCollect, ReExist

May 27-28, June 6-7, June 12-14, 2022

Please join us this summer for *Performing Emergence: RePlay, ReCollect,
ReExist*, the 2022 conference of the Canadian Association for Theatre
Research <https://catracrt.ca/>. A hybrid conference held on the Theatre
Agora <http://www.theatreagora.ca/> website, the conference will feature
lively conversations in English and French from across the fields of drama,
theatre, dance, performance studies, and artistic practice.



This year’s conference features keynote addresses by Dylan Robinson
<https://www.dylanrobinson.ca/> (Stó:lō scholar and Canada Research Chair
in Indigenous Arts at Queen’s University), Mumbi Tindyebwa Otu
<http://www.obsidiantheatre.com/about-us/staff/mumbi-tindyebwa-otu/>
(Obsidian Theatre’s Artistic Director), and Tara Beagan
<https://tarabeagan.com/> (ARTICLE 11’s Ntlaka’pamux / Irish cofounding
Artistic Director). The conference features panels and roundtables on
Indigenous ReExistence in Practice; Refusing Climate Fatalism; the Role of
Performing Objects; Cosplay, Striptease and Worldmaking; Youth, Activism
and Performance; workshops on Oral History and Artmaking by *Jumblies
Theatre <http://www.jumbliestheatre.org/jumblies/>*, and much more. There
will be live and recorded performances of new work *by Sorouja Moll and*
Corenski Nowlan, and a screening of the film Istotsi: The Land We Live On
By Making Treaty Seven (MT7). We will also have pub nights, award
ceremonies, and launches of new book titles by *Talonbooks

This year, the conference takes place in three acts, hosted by St. Thomas
University (*May 27-28*), the University of Toronto Scarborough (*June 6-7*),
and in-person at the University of Lethbridge (*June 12-14*).

Theatreagora.ca is hosted on University of Waterloo webspace. The
University of Waterloo is situated on the traditional territory of the
Attawandaron (Neutral), Anishnaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. The main
campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, land promised to the Six Nations
in 1784 that includes ten kilometres on each side of the Grand River.

réexister*, le colloque 2022 de l’Association canadienne de la recherche
théàtrale <https://catracrt.ca/>. Il s'agit d’un colloque hybride qui se

qui proposera des conversations animées en anglais et en français dans les
domaines de l'art dramatique, du théâtre, de la danse, des études sur la
performance et de la pratique artistique.

climatique ; le rôle des objets dans la performance artistique ; cosplay,
striptease et création d'un univers artistique ; jeunesse, activisme et
performance ; des ateliers sur l'histoire orale et la création artistique
animés par le Jumblies Theatre <http://www.jumbliestheatre.org/jumblies/>,
et bien plus encore. Il y aura des performances en direct et enregistrées
de nouvelles œuvres de Sorouja Moll et Corenski Nowlan, ainsi que la
projection du film Istotsi : The Land We Live On By Making Treaty Seven
(MT7). Il y aura également des soirées pub, des cérémonies de remise de
prix et le lancement de nouveaux livres publiés chez les éditeurs
Talonbooks et Playwrights Canada Press.
