The “ESSAY SECTION” of Critical Stages/Scènes critiques   is dedicated to urgent issues related to:
theatre and performance making,
ways of thinking and writing about theatre and performing arts,
ways of viewing and reflecting on practices, pedagogies of performance and text analysis,
practices of dramaturgy,
interdisciplinarity, transcultural approaches,
and digitalization of communication practices in theatre and cultural performance, among other issues.

The aim of the ESSAY SECTION is to offer a broader practical, aesthetic, historical, and theoretical outlet to those interested in recent developments in theatre and performance across national and disciplinary boundaries. To this end, we welcome a wide range of submissions in English and/or French.

Critical Stages/Scènes critiques est une revue Web révisée par des pairs, entièrement engagée dans l’initiative de l’accès libre. Nous offrons un lieu de débat et d’exploration sur un grand nombre de manifestations de théâtre et d’arts du spectacle, du monde entier.

La section « Essais » de la revue se consacre notamment à des enjeux urgents liés au théâtre et à la création, aux moyens de penser et d’écrire sur le théâtre et les arts du spectacle, aux manières de voir et de refléter les pratiques, les pédagogies du spectacle et l’analyse de textes, les pratiques de la dramaturgie, l’interdisciplinarité, les approches transculturelles et la numérisation des pratiques de communication en théâtre et en spectacles culturels.

L’objectif de la section des essais consiste à offrir un lieu d’expression large sur les plans pratique, esthétique, historique et théorique à ceux qui s’intéressent aux récents développements en matière de théâtre et d’arts du spectacle à travers les frontières nationales et disciplinaires. À cette fin, nous accueillons une grande gamme de propositions d’articles, en anglais et/ou en français.
