Intention – Interruption – Antigone : Projet, processus et production de Antigone in the Amazons de Milo Rau

Description : « Intention – Interruption – Antigone » examine Antigone en Amazonie (2023) du metteur en scène suisse-allemand Milo Rau, qui utilise Antigone de Sophocle comme une lentille pour explorer les luttes quotidiennes – parfois croisées – du mouvement des travailleurs sans terre du Brésil. (MST) et les populations autochtones du pays. Cette conférence situe et explore le processus de création fracturé du projet compte tenu de ses diverses interruptions, de la solidarité développée avec les partenaires locaux et des accidents et accessoires au cœur d’Antigone dans la dramaturgie amazonienne.

Biographie : Lily Climenhaga (elle/ils) a rédigé la thèse (Re)Creation Processes : Milo Rau and the International Institute of Political Murder dans le cadre d'un diplôme conjoint entre l'Université de l'Alberta et la Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität et a été co-éditrice de Theater's special 2021 edition sur Milo Rau. Lily entreprend actuellement le projet postdoctoral financé par le FWO « Institutionalized Resistance :  Milo Rau’s NTGent Period» à l'Universiteit Gent. Lily est dramaturge, éditrice, blogueuse (https://lostdramaturgininternational.wordpress.com), critique, traductrice et régisseuse occasionnelle.

Intention – Interruption – Antigone: Project, Process, and Production of Milo Rau’s Antigone in the Amazons

Description: “Intention – Interruption – Antigone” examines Swiss-German theatre-maker Milo Rau’s Antigone in the Amazon (2023), which uses Sophocles’ Antigone as a lens to explore the daily – at times intersecting – struggles of Brazil’s Landless Workers’ Movement (MST) and the country’s Indigenous populations. This talk situates and explores the project’s fractured creation process considering its various interruptions, the solidarity developed with local partners, and the accidents and incidentals at the core of Antigone in the Amazon’s dramaturgy.

Biography: Lily Climenhaga (she/they) wrote the dissertation (Re)Creation Processes: Milo Rau and the International Institute of Political Murder in a joint degree between the University of Alberta and Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität and was the co-editor of Theater’s special 2021 edition on Milo Rau. Lily is currently undertaking the FWO-funded postdoctoral project “Institutionalized Resistance: Milo Rau’s NTGent Period” at Universiteit Gent. Lily is a dramaturg, editor, blogger (https://lostdramaturgininternational.wordpress.com), critic, translator, and occasional stage manager.
