[Gbda201tas] Late assignment

Hi there,

Kayla and I have both addressed this independently. The listed deadline in the dropbox does not preclude a student from submitting the assignment. In this particular case, Justin, you gained time to hand in the assignment with the section swap. In case the last email did not reach you, my previous response (Oct. 2) is inline:

The dropboxes should all be aligned with your section by now, but in the case that you ever run into an error, it is still your responsibility to submit by the deadline you are bound to in your section. In your case, the new (later) due date was September 26th for Assignment 1 in Section 2. As a reminder, Assignment 2 is due this Tuesday, October 3.

And from Kayla (Oct 6):

Yes, you are correct that students are allowed to submit one assignment late for whatever reason , however you must let the Professor know beforehand. We’ve received a few other emails from you regarding confusion around due dates due to your section change, however on those occasions you emailed after the due date for the assignment.

Unfortunately, the late policy still applies for this assignment so please make sure you communicate in advance with either the TAs or Professor MacArthur next time. Please also note that the lowest grade of the assignments will be dropped.

If the assignment is in the dropbox then we can mark it and apply the late marks, but if a student waits to hand it in, then we don’t have any way to know when it was ready for grading. I am sorry that this is probably not the news you were hoping to hear!

I acknowledge that we live and work on the traditional territory of‎ the Attawandaron (Neutral), Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. The University of Waterloo is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land promised to the Six Nations that includes ten kilometres on each side of the Grand River, and I think that the land should be returned to them and/or they should be compensated per the treaty conditions.

Subject: [Gbda201tas] Late assignment

Hello,

I was previously having trouble with the section swap and completed assignment 1 before the assigned due date but I did not submit it. Will it still be marked? Is there anything I can do to fix the late mark?

Regards,

Justin
