 img6 <https://i4.createsend1.com/ei/r/00/918/D2A/csimport/ArtworkunveilingToronto.162725.jpg>

On Sunday, June 2nd, the Canadian Cancer Survivor Network celebrated National Cancer Survivors Day in three cities across Canada - Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver!

On this day, prostate and breast cancer survivors came together to shine a light on the importance of bone health in advanced cancer, and encourage other survivors to talk to their physicians about protecting their bones.

Toronto's event took place in Bloor-Yorkville Park under clouds and at times heavy rain, which couldn't dampen the excitement! CCSN President & CEO Jackie Manthorne welcomed everyone, and then, after testimonials from breast cancer patient Judy McCracken and prostate cancer patient Derek Lawrence, artist Ileana Grimm unveiled her painting, which was an artistic representation of both Judy and Derek's experiences with advanced cancer.

CCSN's celebration of National Cancer Survivors Day, culminating with the launch of our bone health campaign, was held in the Core Shopping Centre.

Cancer patients, survivors, famly members, caregivers and others concerned about cancer were invited to honour all those of have experienced or continue to battle this disease.

CCSN was represented at this event by Mona Forrest, Secretary of the Board of Directors. After Mona's welcoming speech, prostate cancer patient Stewart Campbell and breast cancer patient Alwyn Anderson spoke about their personal experiences with cancer. This was followed by the formal unveiling of two pieces of artwork by artist Mandy Stobo.

We are all thinking about Stewart, Alwyn and Mandy during the Southern Alberta floods.
