We're progressing in lots of different directions at the moment.
First, we've spent a lot of time doing software development meant to
scale up our simulations, so we can run much larger versions of Spaun
more quickly. For more information on this, see
<http://compneuro.uwaterloo.ca/publications/bekolay2014.html>.
Second, we've done a lot more integration with learning
(<http://compneuro.uwaterloo.ca/publications/Rasmussen2014a.html>,
<http://compneuro.uwaterloo.ca/publications/bekolay2013.html>). We've
also been working towards more sophisticated knowledge representation
<http://compneuro.uwaterloo.ca/publications/crawford2013.html> and
language processing <https://mindmodeling.org/cogsci2014/papers/268/>.
Overall, the focus over the last two years has been on pushing the
model in various directions; over the next year or so our plan is to
bring these different advances together into building another combined
model like Spaun to investigate how these capabilities interact. The
other big thing we're looking at is investigating the biological
predictions that come out of the model (things like EEG/fMRI signals,
lesion studies, and examining the behavioural effects of different ion
channel blockers).
Thanks for the interest!
