-----------------------------------------------------------------

Sponsored by the Graduate Centre for Study of Drama, F.O.O.T is a
conference and arts festival which seeks to bring together
academia and the arts in a spirit of cross-disciplinary exchange
and exploration.

The theme for this year's festival is PROCESS AND PERFORMANCE
which addresses how we define, discuss, and create all types of
performance including, but not limited to, drama, theatre, film
and video, performance art, dance, and music.

The F.O.O.T. Steering Committee is now accepting proposals for
papers and performance pieces for the 1995 festival.

A critical aspect of F.O.O.T. is the promotion of discussion
between the arts and academia; consequently, short papers not
exceeding twenty minutes in length will be an important component
of the Festival. PAPERS AND PROPOSALS FOR PAPERS relating to
this year's theme of PROCESS AND PERFORMANCE should be received
by the Steering Committee NO LATER THAN FRIDAY 2 DECEMBER 1994.
Proposals should include your name, address and telephone number,
the title of your paper, and a 500 word abstract outlining your
topic. If available, a copy of the completed essay should also
be included.

Proposals for the performance aspect of F.O.O.T. are encouraged
to use a variety of approaches which might force a dialogue
between the conference and performance elements of the Festival
and might strive for a redefinition or reexamination of how or
what we consider to be process and/or performance. Submissions
might involve drama, theatre, video, film, performance art,
music, dance, as well as readings or explorations of works in
progress. Priority will be given to original material and
approaches. Given the nature of this year's theme, PROCESS AND
PERFORMANCE, submissions for experimental works are especially
encouraged. Please note that performances are not to exceed one
hour and all productions in the Robert Gill Theatre will share a
basic lighting plot and set. Submissions should include the
following: your name, address and telephone number, the title of
the performance, a 500 word description/synopsis, an outline of
technical requirements, and a script whenever possible. DEADLINE
FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR LIVE PERFORMANCES (INCLUDING PLAYS) IS FRIDAY
11 NOVEMBER 1994. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR VIDEOS AND FILMS
IS FRIDAY 2 DECEMBER 1994.

All proposals should be sent as soon as possible to:
