Dear Colleagues,

At the risk of sounding as though I am moonlighting for Indigo,

I discovered only recently what many of you no doubt know, and that

is that if you phone their 800 number in Toronto to place an order,

you will receive a 20% discount.  All books are shipped by courier,

usually for next day delivery. I am not certain if they exact

shipping and handling charges; I suspect they don't.  This system

is independent of the one available in their stores--the purchase

of an Indigo membership which allows for a 10% discount on in-store

stock (and, I am guessing, on special orders).  If you identify

yourself as a teacher, the annual membership fee of $15 is

not charged.


They also have some remarkable loss-leader promos, including 30%

in-store discounts on indispensable reference works including

the ODCE (Oxford Dictionary of Canadian English) and The Canadian

Encyclopedia.  The latter has three levels of CDs, the senior one

being very pricey; but I haven't seen them on discount in the

stores.  They might, however, be on discount at the all-magical-

mystery-tour 800 number.  (The latter Beetles-echo is courtesy

of my children who have introduced me to this remarkable group.)
