Query Peter Sellars

Dear colleagues,

Do I remember correctly that at a mid-1990s IFTR conference held in
Montréal, Peter Sellars talked about the effect of a group of actors
off-stage (unknown to the actors onstage) engaging in strong emotions either
equal or opposite to the emotions to be portrayed by the actor onstage? If
so, has this lecture by Sellars been published, or has there been any
research done / published into this phenomenon?
