Playwrights Theatre Centre of Vancouver is seeking an individual to fill
the role of Executive Director/Literary Manager.  PTC, one of Canada’s
leading new play development centres since 1970, is committed to developing
Canadian plays and playwrights by providing dramaturgy, readings, seminars
and workshop productions to help writers ready their plays for the stage.
Its annual Vancouver New Play Festival showcases outstanding work.  The
organization has an annual budget in the $330,000 range, and is supported
by the major funding agencies.

Reporting to an active Board of Directors, the Executive Director/Literary
Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization
including:

 Creating and maintaining programs designed to assist playwrights develop
their plays;
 Reading scripts; working directly with playwrights, dramaturgs and
directors;
 Producing the Vancouver New Play Festival;
 Liaising with artistic directors to encourage productions of plays
developed at PTC;
 Hiring and supervising all artistic personnel, dramaturgs, directors,
actors and teachers;
 Hiring and supervising all PTC staff (in conjunction with the
Administrator);
 Structuring all financial details, writing all applications for funding,
and overseeing the budget (in conjunction with the Administrator).

The ideal candidate will be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant who is
knowledgeable about Canadian playwrights, Canadian theatre and new play
development.  Salary is negotiable based on candidate’s qualifications.
Ideal starting date: November 1, 2002.
