Theatre - History and Theory 
 
The Department of Theatre of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ottawa invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to commence July 1, 2008.  For more detail on our programs, please visit http://www.uottawa.ca/academic/arts/theatre/eng/index.html.
 
The University of Ottawa is located in the heart of the National Capital which is home to a wealth of artistic institutions and is ideally situated between Montreal and Toronto. The Department of Theatre is a rapidly growing department with an exciting MFA program in Directing and a new MA in Theatre, in the area of theory and dramaturgy, which will be inaugurated in September, 2008. At the undergraduate level the Department offers a Minor, a Major comprising two streams, and an Honours Specialist in Theatre. Each of these programs is available in French and in English.
 
Qualifications: a PhD in Theatre; with specialization in Theatre History and additional expertise in English Canadian theatre; a proficient knowledge of theatre theory is an asset; scholarly publications are required; experience in University teaching at a variety of levels is expected.  
 
The successful candidate will be able to function in a bilingual environment, contribute to the MA program and teach undergraduate courses in the areas outlined above.  The initial teaching load will be in English.
 
Salary is in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
