BODYSCHOOL
Contemporary Theatre Creation Intensive

ŒRigorous, liberating and very excitingŠ a powerful experience

that is influencing the development of my creative process today¹

Brian Webb, Choreographer, Dancer and Canada Dance Festival Artistic
Director

BodySchool is an opportunity for
professional and pre-professional actors
and theatre makers to connect with craft
and creativity in a direct physical way.
This intensive will focus on three themes;
the actor¹s work on their own body,
the physical and spatial relationships
between performers, and the craft of
creating original theatre in an embodied manner.

This year¹s guest instructor is JILLIAN KEILEY, the Siminovitch
award-winning
director of festival highlight Fear of Flight. Her workshop
Kaleidography: Patterns in the Theatre, deals with chorus and ensemble based
work, utilizing musical scores as a meter system to which all other
stage action and text is synchronized.

The Dancing Word: Martial Movement and Voice for Theatrical Devisers,
led by One Reed Theatre Ensemble director and University of Ottawa professor
DANIEL
MROZ, presents a synthesis of the European
group theatre approach with work on movement, breath, voice and
partnering derived from the traditional Chinese martial arts.

BodySchool will take place in the studios of the University of Ottawa
Department of Theatre, in downtown Ottawa and is presented by Magnetic
North Theatre Festival and The Department of Theatre of the University of
Ottawa.

Dates: April 20 25 from 10:00 5:00 daily.
Fee: $100
Deadline: March 31, 2009
