 Tenure-Track Position in Theatrical Directing

Department of Drama Competition No. -A110118658

Applicants are invited for a full-time tenure track appointment at the
Assistant Professor level, with a specialization in the field of Directing.
The department is particularly interested in adding to its expertise in one
or more of the following areas: interdisciplinary and cross-cultural
performance, extended performance styles, contemporary approaches to
performing classical theatre texts, image-based theatre, and original
theatrical creation.

The successful candidate will teach directing at the graduate and
undergraduate levels, and acting through performance projects and scene
study in the BFA conservatory-based Acting and BA liberal arts programs.
Capacity to contribute to courses in performer-created work or critical
seminars will be considered assets, as will an interest in the use of
writing as a reflective and analytic tool within practice-based courses.

The successful candidate will have:

   -

     A PhD or MFA degree in theatre; professional theatre equivalencies
   may be considered
   -

     Post-secondary teaching experience, preferably in both directing and
   acting
   -

     A record of directing for the professional stage
   -

     The ability to teach honours and/or graduate seminars and supervise
   theses in his/her area

   of specialization
   -

     Capacity and interest in engaging with students and faculty in the
   exploration of dynamic

   interactions between theatre practice, theory and research

   Faculty are required to engage in creative activity and/or research of
   quality, and to assume appropriate administrative and leadership
   responsibilities. Excellent funding opportunities are available for
   investigation/experimentation/creative activity/research in faculty
   members’ areas of expertise.
