The University of Winnipeg  is announcing a new field school in
Paleoanthropology and Paleolithic Archaeology in Serbia - in collaboration
with the University of Belgrade and the National Museum - starting in the
summer of 2010. This field school provides an in-depth training in
surveying, excavation, documentation, and analysis of paleoanthropological
and archaeological material from two Pleistocene sites in Southern and
Western Serbia. The course includes a strong component of environmental
reconstruction and, while specifically tailored to undergraduate and
graduate students with interest in Paleolithic studies and
Paleoanthropology, may also interest students in biology, geology and
environmental studies. Enrolment is limited: to register, fill in the
application and e-mail it to the Chair of the Anthropology Department and or
the Instructor Dr. Roksandic.

Dates: July 18 to August 15
Location: Balanica cave complex in Sicevo Gorge (near Niš) and Šalitrena
cave, (near Valjevo) in Serbia.

PREREQUISITES: Permission of the instructor. Enrollment is limited. To
ensure a place on the team applicants should send their application before
March 15th. While space might be available after that date, preference will
be given to students applying before that time.
