In this Moment: Thoughts on Anti-Racism, Social Justice, Decoloniality and Radical Collectivities

On Monday, March 23, Professor Rinaldo Walcott will give an Invited Lecture for the Department of Drama and Speech Communication's Speaker Series. "In This Moment: Thoughts on Anti-Racism, Social Justice, Decoloniality and Radical Collectivities<https://uwaterloo.ca/drama-speech-communication/events/moment-thoughts-anti-racision-social-justice-decoloniality>" investigates the trajectories of anti-racism, decolonial and social justice movements, and calls for scholars, activists and practitioners to contribute to a radical collective imaginary capable of thinking and articulating another kind of future. The talk takes place in AL 113 at 5 PM and will be followed by discussion. All are welcome.

A brief reception will be held before the talk from 4:15 - 5 PM in AL 211. Light refreshments will be provided.

Professor Walcott will also lead a Seminar discussion of some of his recent work examining how multiculturalism" and "blackness" have been constructed in relation to and in the context of a conception of "human" rooted in a white, colonialist worldview. The Seminar will take place in ML 246 from 1 - 2:30 PM. About Rinaldo Walcott:
A professor in the Department of Social Justice Education and Director of the Women and Gender Studies Institute at the University of Toronto, Prof Walcott's research program, emphasizing Black Diaspora Cultural Studies and Multiculturalism, Citizenship and Coloniality, is interdisciplinary and his published works have examined postcolonialism, popular culture, gender and sexuality, and social, cultural and public policy.
